Recently on Instagram, actor Chris Pratt, said he “‘wouldn’t change a thing’ about his 2018 MTV Speech in which he told audiences that God loves them and stressed the importance of prayer.
As Marie M. Klett reported for the Christian Post in her January 16, 2023 article:
In a recent Instagram post, the “Jurassic Park” actor reflected on a speech he gave after accepting the Generation Award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. In the speech, he outlined several points of advice for his audience, much of it infused with biblical wisdom.
“I was given three minutes to impart wisdom to the next generation,” he shared. “Given the chance to do it again I wouldn’t change a thing.
The article goes on to say:
The 43-year-old actor, who recently welcomed his second child with his second wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, has been open about his Christian beliefs and how they have guided him throughout his life. Pratt and his family attend Zoe Church, pastored by Chad Veach.
There has been widespread interest in the actor’s statements on his faith in the past and these continue in present. The Hollywood Reporter attempted, back in June of 2022, to use his clarification in a Men’s Health cover story about not being “a religious person” as the basis for the gospel of Pratt’s unbelief, while Relevant Magazine in a subsequent article, brought some necessary perspective to the debate about the actor’s position.
[I]f you dig a bit deeper into the [Men’s Health] piece a little further, Pratt makes it clear that he does believe in God – he just rejects the “religious” label, as many Christians do. As he puts it: “I think there’s a distinction between being religious – adhering to the customs created by man, oftentimes appropriating the awe reserved for who I believe is a real God – and using it to control people, to take money from people, to abuse children, to steal land, to justify hatred. The evil that’s in the heart of every single man has glommed on to the back of religion and come along for the ride.”
