In an innovative approach to tackling chronic absenteeism, the Los Angeles Rams and Pacsun are partnering with local schools to infuse fashion into education through their ‘Geared for Greatness’ initiative

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders and their mascot, Rampage, along with Pacsun, partnered with Partnership for Los Angeles Schools to tackle persistent absenteeism in historically underfunded communities. Their combined efforts focused on donating clothes and offering an exclusive shopping experience to local students.

The event saw Rams Cheerleaders and Rampage escort students from George Washington Carver Middle School and Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary School through a special shopping session, even acting as personal stylists and providing fashion advice. Moreover, in February, Pacsun products were carefully prepared and dispatched to an extra 18 LA Unified schools under the management of the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools.

The initiative, fittingly called “Geared for Greatness,” is intended to support LA Unified’s continued work to address chronic absenteeism. It does this by supplying students with trendy clothes that will motivate them to look forward to attending school.

Brieane Olson, CEO of Pacsun, said, “Pacsun and the Rams are devoted to uplifting the youth and advocating for education. We are honored to collaborate with the team and the esteemed Partnership for Los Angeles Schools to create opportunities for students. We are committed to making a significant impact in Los Angeles and Southern California and fostering a brighter future for our local community.”

Molly Higgins, Executive Vice President of Community Impact and Engagement, Los Angeles Rams, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Pacsun and Partnership for Los Angeles Schools to provide deserving students with new clothes. We hope these clothes encourage our young students to continue attending class and performing their best.”

Deycy Hernandez, chief external officer of the Partnership, said, “We are excited to collaborate with Pacsun and the Los Angeles Rams to bring a bit of extra luxury and joy to students, encouraging them to continue to attend school confidently and stylishly.”

Before the 2022 season, the Rams and Pacsun renewed their partnership aimed at encouraging attendance at Partnership for LA Schools in Watts, South LA, and Boyle Heights. Since 2019, Pacsun and the Rams have donated $2 million in products, providing new, fashionable clothing, benefiting 13,500 Los Angeles Unified School students served by Partnership for Los Angeles Schools.
